Amy the Beagle.jpg
Amy the Beagle
Amy
Amy the stray Beagle has a new job.  It is "Amy the Pillow" for her pre-school age little buddy.  The family adopted her so the little guy would have a dog to grow up with and she sleeps with him!  Doesn't she do her new job well
Amy was a stray found in fall/winter 2006.

Arctica (r) and Family
Arctica
She & CJ play together ALL day, they dig holes together in the back yard, play tag, & the latest game is Hide&Seek.  In the evenings she's the first one at the door ready to go for our usual (5 mile) walk.  They walk great together-all I need is a sled!
Josette and Joe in Fall 2006 (Update received January 2007)
She's well behaved; puts CJ to shame at obedience school, and will soon be taking her TDI test. We don't know how we were ever a one dog house!  Thanks for trusting us to her care!
She is no longer a scrawny puppy & now weighs over 50 pounds & has a really sturdy build.  She is talkative & "roo, roo, roos" when she's happy to see us or wants her belly rubbed.
Babs and Jessie at home.jpg
Babs and Jessie at home
Babs
Shelter Volunteer, Jen H., her husband, Andy, and 2 small sons, and two other rescues; Jessie the dog and Amber the cat.  Babs and Jessie are now the best of friends and closest of doggie sisters.
Babs was at the shelter for about 6 months.  She was very fearful and shy at first, but warmed up with loving attention from volunteers.  Many often said, "why is she still here?!"
She had turned into such a nice dog!
Babs stayed with us until the following week when I was to return to the shelter.  She fit in and won our hearts.  We knew right away that we could never give her to anyone else.  Divine intervention found her the perfect home at the most unlikely time.
As A volunteer, I'd walked Babs on occasion, but had never really formed a special bond with her as I did with some of the other dogs.  One night I took Babs home to transport her to an upcoming adopt-a-thon which was then cancelled due to bad weather
Babs with Ethan.jpg
Babs with Ethan
Babs with Ethan
Ethan stumbled upon an accidental home when volunteer Jen took him to do a home visit that didn't pan out; Jen and her family decided immediately that Ethan would have a forever home in the Hunsinger family.
Volunteer Jen and family adopted Ethan in August 2006
Doggie sister Jessie gets a little annoyed with the lovebirds at bedtime but loves to play with them in the big backyard.
As it turned out, Ethan and Babs, another MM rescue, fell madly in love and now are annoucing their engagement!  Wedding date-TBA.  Babs is in no hurry and is content as is, as evident in their engagement picture...
Babs, Ethan, Raoul.jpg
Babs, Ethan, Raoul
Babs, Ethan, and Raoul
I've wanted a 4th dog for several months & finally my husband agreed, but he wanted to pick the dog. I thought of Raoul because he's laid back, shy & also, my gut kept telling me that the right thing to do was adopt one of the older dogs.  Andy agreed!
Volunteer Jen Hunsinger and family; she tells how she came to choose Raoul.
Raoul is doing so well, it's unbelieveable that he was overlooked for 8 years. Words cannot describe how loving he is.  He has really come out of his shell.  His new nickname is "hunka hunka burnin' love" because he's so big and so loveable.
He is such a love bug. He's getting more relaxed as the days go by and getting used to all of us, including our kids.
Raoul (top) is the 4th dog (the 3rd from MM) added to Jen's family.  Raoul was born at and had lived almost all of his 8 years at the shelter! (adopted briefly and returned)
Bailey and baby.jpg
Bailey and baby
Bailey
Bailey is still doing great! She and Aiyden (1 yr old son) get along very well. She lets him crawl all over her and sometimes she even sleeps next to him when he falls asleep in the living room.
A family in November 2006...here is the New Years 2007 update
Thanks for all that Mostly Mutts does to keep dogs safe!
We're working on her jumping up, she gets excited when new people come to visit, but calms down then and sits and enjoys the petting and attention she gets from new visitors
Balto.JPG
Balto
He's doing great and fits right in with our family.  He has lots of energy and loves chasing his chew toys.  Kira has taught him several new tricks and he has learned very quickly!
The Stump Family
He's so smart!  He loves his daily walks and starts getting excited as soon as we start putting our sneakers on. All in all he's doing very well and we love him so much!!
Thanks for everything.
As far as we could tell when he came to our house, he could only sit on command.  Kira taught him to shake (with both paws), lay down, roll over, and stay.

Barney.jpg
Barney
This ol' man came to MM when a breeder was done breeding him.  He aged before our eyes, becoming arthiritic and stiff.  Linda has him on a excellent regimen and look at him now!

Bella.JPG
Bella
Bella
We went to the pet store on the way home & I got new toys & treats. We then went to Mc Donalds to celebrate. Mom let me have a couple bites of her chicken sandwich.
Bella's new family sent this email update for her (it was signed from Bella). I love my new home. When my new mommie saw me she said I was the one for her.
Thank you for helping me find my new mommie.
We got home & I claimed a big stuffed chair just for me. I've been on walks & met my sisters that live next door (mommie's daughter's 2 shar peis). We sniffed each other & had supper together.
Bella and her friend, Joey, were owner relinquished in early 2008.
Ben the Black Lab.jpg
Ben the Black Lab
Ben
Ben was a rambunctious stray when he arrived at Mostly Mutts in the summer of 2005.
His new family in New England.
In spite of the fact that he nearly ate the couch in his new home, he eventually settled down and is obviously loved.
Bentley.jpg
Bentley
We recently adopted Zen, now Bentley, and he’s been the perfect addition to our family! We’d been looking for months for a Jack Russell that needed adopted but had no such luck.
He’s been the perfect addition to our family!

Brent & Trisha Temple
Again, we can’t thank you enough for allowing us to welcome Bentley into our home and our lives.  And thank you for all you do for all these dogs!!
They love to run around the entire house for hours and then curl up together for their naps.  Its so cute to see them together because one weighs 85 pounds and the other only weighs 7 pounds!!
Bosley.jpg
Bosley
Bosley
We absolutely love Bosley! It seems like he has always lived with us. He herds our kids in the yard and loves to play with "his" boys. He's also very good with our one year old, very patient.
Shari's family
We're thrilled he's a part of our family!
He's an 86 pound lap dog, a gentle giant!
Bosley was abandoned by his original owner and only spent a short time at the shelter before finding a loving new family.
Brittany.jpg
Brittany
My husband and I just wanted to send a "thank you" for allowing us to welcome Brittany into our home and our lives! We were looking at all the cute photos you had of the rescue dogs and as soon as my husband laid eyes on Brittany's picture he was in love!
Brent & Trisha Temple
So thank you for taking such good care of her during her time at Mostly Mutts, and thank you for giving us a wonderful best friend!
Forever grateful for all you do for these wonderful animals.
I love labs and my husband loves huskies so she was the perfect combination for us!  We've now had Brittany for almost a year and she has adjusted wonderfully to her forever home.
Brody-Bear with friend.jpg
Brody-Bear with friend
When we adopted him, he was anxious, overweight, & really unsure of his role w/us. He was always happy to see us, but never real affectionate. Now, he's so sweet... just the best dog. He's lost between 15-20 lbs.
Kristen and Mark in June 2007.  They polished our diamond in the rough!
We just couldn't be happier with him. He's such a fabulous dog and we were so lucky that we were the ones to adopt him!
He absolutely loves living by the river. Swimming, fetch, and canoeing are some of his favorite activities. He has met my parent's golden retriever (Titan) and they are best buds now, its really cute.
Brody was a handsome chocolate lab who was a stray. When found, he had stayed on a farm where he could run free.  He was VERY frustrated being contained at the shelter, but volunteers knew he was a diamond in the rough.
Brooke.jpg
Brooke
Brooke
Brooke is doing great!!? She has made herself at home, and gets along with Maple and Oaklie great (my two cats). She actually sleeps with Maple all the time.
Scott and his 2 cats
We go on walks everyday, sometimes we even go to RB Winter State Park. All in all, Brooke is a well behaved dog, she just has a lot of puppy in her yet, with lots of energy.
A sweet, beautiful girl who arrived at the shelter very fearful of everything. After months and months of socialization, she bloosomed into a wonderful dog.  The inner beauty inside came out and matched the beauty outside.
Bruce Casey Family-eyes edit.jpg
Bruce Casey Family-eyes edit
Bruce and Casey
Bruce is the Beagle in the front and Casey is the black and white beagle mix in the middle.  They joined a family including 2 labs (pictures) and 3 children.
Joleene and family
Santa picked Bruce up at the shelter and delivered him several weeks before Christmas 2006.  He was a gift for the oldest son!  Casey joined the family in Spring 07 after they lost an older beagle and mom realized she liked having a little dog.
Bruce, Casey and Presley.jpg
Bruce, Casey and Presley
Presley
He is a very good dog. He is so well behaved we hardly know he is here. He's been great with the kids and he's starting to play with the other dogs.
Presley (far right) is the 3rd Mostly Mutts dog added to Joleene's family. Bruce the Beagle & Casey the Beagle mix were the first to join 2 labs there. When the chocolate lab died, the family again came to MM to fill the empty space.
On his first night at home, "As I am typing this to you all four of them are sleeping on my bedroom floor. What a sight!!"
Presley was given up by his family for financial reasons.  Such a great dog!  He waited a long time at the shelter before finally finding the right family in March 2008.

Bugsy Malone.jpg
Bugsy Malone
Bugsy Malone
We formally adopted him on the spot, & started back for New York with co-pilot Bugs Malone assisting at the wheel.  He is affectionate, protective, playful and full of vinegar.
Dawn and Pete in January 2006, they report, "When we met Bugsy at the shelter, he immediately took charge, taking Pete for a walk & we fell in love with his cocky walk & affectionate nature."
He is certainly representative of the fact that an adopted nimal is a wonderful companion, friend and family member. As of February 2006, he is now our baby son Zachary's new friend.
He has done a great job in blending in with our two Labs, Sarge & Sammy, & our two cats, Scooter & Reilly.
Buzz with Taz.jpg
Buzz with Taz
Buzz (on right)
Buzz lived at the shelter for over a year with his ailing friend Teddy, a senior terrier mix.  When Teddy died in 2003, Buzz finally went home with Lorena, whose heart he'd been slowly stealing each time she visited him at the shelter
Volunteer Lorena Hilner and family.  Including Taz (left) and 2 cats
Taz was an indirect Mostly Mutts rescue.  His previous family wanted a new home for him & contacted Mostly Mutts to see if there was anyone looking for a sassy Lhasa Apsa.  Lorena had called THE SAME DAY to see if there were any little furry dogs.
He fit into the family perfectly and became fast and inseparable friends with Taz.  He also learned from his new dad that it's great to get a belly rubbing.
Camden sit.jpg
Camden sit
... what a wonderful young man camden turned out to be! We adopted camden about 6 months ago and had a rocky start.  I am proud to say that 6 months later he is a total different Camden.
Michelle and Matt -- Spring of 2007
Thank you again for allowing us to adopt Camden, he's part of the family!
He's shy at first with new faces but after the warm up, he's all over them!! Even here at home, he's changed alot from being momma's boy to a daddy's boy in no time....he loves attention & absolutely loves his belly rubbed!
One of the 7 "C" or "spice" puppies who arrived at the shelter at about 4 months of age.  They're lab/saint/shepherd mixes, some black, some red/brown, some curly, some straight hair.

She came to the shelter from a neglectful situation a few months before.
We can't thank you , Cheryl, and the volunteers enough for all you do.

Cinnamon at Christmas.jpg
Cinnamon at Christmas
Cinnamon
Robin wanted to foster a dog and chose Cinnamon because she thought she was one of the less adoptable of the pups.  She thought if Cinnamon were more socialized in a home environment, she'd be more likely to find a home.
Volunteers Robin and Jordan
One of the 7 "C" or "spice" puppies who arrived at the shelter at about 4 months of age.
Robin exemplifies all of us volunteers.  A "hazard" of volunteering is falling in love with that special dog (or 2!) and helping it find a great forever home--our own!
Well, Cinnamon did become more adoptable and found a home when Robin and daughter Jordan fell in love with her!  They adopted Cinnamon into their pack, including 2 other dogs!

Cisco was laying in my bed sleeping, and I was watching animal channel and he heard the puppy's whining and perked up and was watching the puppy.

WHAT A GREAT DOG!!!! He acts like he's been here his whole life. Listens well, especially when off leash in the yard.  Has discovered squirrels and now knows when he barks at the deer they run- great fun.
Tom and Barb adopted this young shepherd mix from Mostly Mutts in March 2007.  A really nice boy who was at the shelter only a few short weeks.
We would like to tell the previous owner how well he is doing and that he is enjoying his new home.  CJ is a really wonderful dog.
Sleeps the whole night and he even leaves us enough room in the bed. And NO accidents. and follows me everywhere.  We really didn't want to use a crate and it seems like we won't have to.
Clover.JPG
Clover
Clover
He enjoys car rides and vacationing with his family and has grown to 66 lbs.
Danielle and Hunter
Clover was 1 of 6 puppies that were rescued by Mostly Mutts volunteers in Summer 2007. They lived in foster homes until they were adopted. Their mom was a lab mix named Roxie who was pregnant when she was adopted by a local family.
Clyde.jpg
Clyde
Clyde
Clyde is doing extremely well.  He has taken a few romps
around the yard but mostly likes to lay in the grass
or stand next to me wagging his tail and pleading with
those eyes of his to pet him.
Alice, who fell for Clyde when she met him at an adopt-a-thon.  She took him home to join her family of 3 other dogs, 2 cats, and several horses.
Clyde is an absolute joy and I feel very fortunate to have him. Thank you for taking such good care of him and allowing me to
become part of his life.
I especially enjoy the way he rocks back and forth on his front feet when he is excited.  I call it "Clyde's Dance."
Clyde was a hunting dog who was given up by his previous owner.  He was much loved by the volunteers because of his big soft ears, imploring brown eyes, and winning personality.
Cookie (was Oreo).jpg
Cookie (was Oreo)
Cookie (was Oreo)
She is such a sweet little girl and is so much fun to have with us. We are so blessed to have her. She is learning quickly and so are we. She loves playing with toys and we are constantly picking up ropes and balls.
Susan adopted Oreo .... changed her name to "Cookie"
Thank you and again and God Bless you and all your helpers for the great work you are doing.
Our children are all coming home this weekend to meet her. I can't wait for the two grandchildren to enjoy her, as I know she will enjoy them. She loves kids.

Daisy Mae.jpg
Daisy Mae
We cannot imagine life without Daisy Mae. She is loved very much, and is bringing us much joy. She is a constant companion for us, and has gotten along with Benji, our little Yorki, from the moment they met.
Sharon Miller
She likes to sleep under the covers and is quick to let us know when someone is outside our door. She has a "forever home" here for sure.  It just wouldn't seem the same without her around. We love her and she is very happy here.

Daisy was tied outside in her first home.  She obviously has life much better now and is very loved by her new mom and dad.

Dewey-now Dewzer
Dewzer (aka Dewey) is doing really well.  My other dog, Fidget, and Dewz play together all the time.  They really love each other.
Sarah
They both sleep with me at night.  Dewzer's main defect is that he chews on things he shouldn't sometimes.  He's lucky he's so cute.  anyway, I love him to death and he is very happy here.

Dewey went to live with Fidget and his new family.  Here he is right after he went home.  He had a grand ol'  time running around the house with his new friend Fidget...he looked so darn happy
