Mostly Mutts Rainbow Bridge

There have been some of our furry friends who have crossed over to the rainbow bridge from Mostly Mutts.  Some were older dogs who were abandoned by their owners in their old age.  Some were Cheryl's own personal dogs.  All were known and loved by the volunteers.

She came out of her shell to the volunteers who knew her best.  She was a very gentle, sweet, smart girl.  She loved to start her days off with a walk with her friend Sweety and end the day playing in the play yard with her buddy Buster.
Bonnie
Bonnie came to MM a little over a year ago with her friend Clyde(who since has been adopted).  We don't know much about her history other than she was tied outside and used as a hunting dog.  She came as a very scared shy girl.

She died from a cancerous abdominal mass and crossed over the Rainbow Bridge March 2008 after living  the best 16 months of her life in a loving home with Mandy and her cat.
Chiffon
I had 16 wonderful months with Chiffon. I'm so glad I gave her a better life than before she came to the shelter. I will miss that beautiful face, beagle howl, tail wags of happiness & waiting for more treats.  She's in a better place & peaceful.

He will be missed by the husky loving volunteers who enjoyed his energetic walks in the woods.  And by the volunteers who he converted to husky lovers with his charming personality.
Chinook
He came to the shelter in fall 2007 and enjoyed walking with the volunteers while he waited for his forever home.  His lymph nodes were found to be swollen in January 2008 and after several weeks of treatment, it was diagnosed as cancer.

He was so comical and loved to play with the dogs in his foster home.  The final months of his life were spent in a very loving foster family before the disease from the tick and flea infestation overcame him.
Gus
Found loaded with fleas & ticks on I-70 in North Carolina in Fall 2007 by a neighbor of a MM foster mom. He loved squeaky toys & especially his chicken leg squeeky toy.  He would give out a hound howl when he would hear one.

Thanks Yvette and Keith for giving her the best months of her life.
Kita
Kita was adopted in March of this year to a wonderful loving home.  She had dental surgery done on 11-28-06 and was doing well.  The family went to bed that night and when they woke up, Kita had died in her sleep, surrounded by her loving family.

He crossed the Rainbow Bridge in his sleep, alone in his kennel.  On the other side of the Rainbow Bridge, he trusts everyone, doesn't hurt from arthritis anymore, and plays with squeaky toys.
Max
Max, an older shepherd, came to Mostly Mutts when his family no longer wanted him.  He had serious trust issues with people, but was OK with the other dogs.
Minx.jpg

Enjoyed walks, although shorter ones, and treats from the volunteers all summer.  It was obvious his arthritis was finally getting the best of him.  He crossed the rainbow bridge in early September 2006, somewhere past the age of 13.
Minx
He came to Cheryl's home in Milton a number of years ago.  Another rescue from a bad situation.  He and Sport have been roommates at Sunbury Mostly Mutts for over 5 years.  A nicer boy couldn't be found!

She crossed the Rainbow Bridge on February 24, 2006.  She is missed by her kennel mates-Sport, Minx, and Duke and will be lovingly remembered by her 'mom' and all the volunteers who knew and loved her.
Smokey
This sweet girl was the last of Cheryl's own 'original' dogs.  She was 16 plus yrs old, could no longer hear the last few years, but still loved to walk.  This photo was taken at Geyer's Grooming in 2004 after a day at the 'beauty parlor.'

Sydney

With Mostly Mutts TLC, Sydney lived out several years.  Every winter looking like it would be her last.  She continued to make new friends, winning the hearts of volunteers and always ready to go for a walk until cancer finally overcame her.
Sydney
Sydney was found abandoned, wandering on a road.  The only thing certain about her age was that she was well into her teens.  She couldn't hear and was blind in one eye.  When she arrived her coat was in awful condition.

She would always roll in the grass before she would let us put her back in her kennel.  She loved her kennel mate Sweetie too.  Tasha Marie crossed the Rainbow Bridge in June 2008.
Tasha Marie
Tasha came to us about 4 years ago.  Her owner was going through a divorce and had to surrender her dog to us.  She was a sweet girl who loved her walks in the woods.

She trained volunteers to coax her back from a walk with treats.  What a donkey impression she did without those goodies!   She died during the night in her sleep Christmas Eve 2006, curled up on the couch in her favorite spot in the basement kennel area.
Tasha
She came Cheryl's home 10 yrs ago at 4-5 yrs of age. She was very beloved by all volunteers with not a mean bone in her body & welcomed new rescues.  On winter walks she was a picture of JOY when she rolled in the snow.

However, his back legs gave out and he was no longer able to walk.  Cheryl could see his pain so decided it was his time to cross.  We hope he is running around in no pain now and basking in the sun!  We all will miss you, Teddy.
TeddyBear
What a sweet and loving dog.  Nothing bothered him, an attitude he acquired when living with a home with many different animals.  He enjoyed his slow, leisurely walks in the woods.  He certainly went at his own pace!
